What if I am allergic to or want to avoid a specific food?

Updated 7 months ago by Steven Todd Smith

The Meal Planner currently offers three intolerance settings that can be activated within your account: soy, gluten, and nuts. If you turn any of these settings on, your recipes will not include these types of foods.

If you want to avoid certain foods and still enjoy the full library of recipes, we recommend:

  • swapping out any meals containing them and replacing them with another recipe
  • choosing to omit these ingredients/foods directly from the recipe
  • substituting them with other similar foods of preference

In most cases, these personal changes work very well!

When searching the Recipe Box, you can also type -{NAME FOOD(S)} to search for all recipes that do not include those ingredients. By using a minus sign in front of a food, you can exclude that food from your results. Check out our Search/Filter article for more information!

Good news! Our team is currently working on a new filters feature, providing a more convenient way to exclude certain ingredients from recipes search.

Additional categories (cuisine, meal type, flavor type, etc.) will be included for easy customizing also. Keep an eye out for a future update!
