I am diabetic. Will this plan work for me?

Updated by Steven Todd Smith

Our recipes are based on a whole-food, plant-based diet, which is a diet mainly of whole or minimally refined fruits, vegetables, tubers, whole grains, and legumes. When eating this way, about 70-80% of calories will inherently be from carbohydrates. We believe such a diet is the healthiest as evidenced by the works and research of Drs. T. Colin Campbell, Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr., John McDougall, Neal Barnard, and Dean Ornish, among others.

While we are unable to provide individualized medical or nutritional advice, you may find our featured Diabetes health topics page helpful! Please consult with a medical doctor if you have any concerns.

Your Forks Meal Planner menus and settings are easily customizable, so you can add/swap/remove recipes and adjust your scheduled meals or serving sizes. Using the search bar and filter options in your Recipe Box, you can find recipes with certain foods or even filter out certain recipes (i.e. -avocado -nut -seed -pasta -bread -grain). We encourage any personal modifications, like substituting or omitting certain ingredients, while following the recipe as otherwise written.

The forums on Dr. John McDougall’s website are an excellent place to find out more information through expert and follower discussion: https://drmcdougallforums.com/
